After a successful Division I college soccer career at the University of Denver where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in Biology and Spanish, Dr. Bowers completed medical school at Georgetown University. He then completed neurosurgical residency under Dr. William Couldwell at the University of Utah and received specialty training in skull base and cerebrovascular neurosurgery in Seattle prior to joining Westchester Medical Center.

He has published over 30 scientific articles and given over 20 oral presentations on a wide variety of neurosurgical topics and has won numerous research awards including the 2015 Synthes Skull Base Award and the Resident Award for best talk at the Rocky Mountain Neurosurgery Meeting.
